And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 (ESV)
It was the first time that I had been excited about something in over five years. My dream was finally about to come true. I mean this was huge… YASSSS!! I am finally doing it!!!
BAMMMM ….. and just like that…one phone call later….one week later, all my excitement came to a crashing HALT…
I was disappointed for weeks. I was so frustrated. I was so crushed. I was so upset. I was so confused. I felt that I had done all the right things. I prayed. I fasted. I submitted myself to God. So how could this have possibly happened to me. God knows that this is the big break that I had been waiting for. How could He allow this to happen to me?
So how do we handle disappointment? It is ok to be hurt, frustrated, and even angry. The key is to not get caught up or stuck in, and sin while in those emotions.
Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger. Ephesians 4:26 (ESV)
For me this was a very important situation. While I was dealing with the disappointment and asking God, why, He continued to tell me to “Have Faith”. I continued to cry out as, I felt that I wanted more of a response. I felt that I deserved an answer. But I have to remember that God does not have to dignify me with a response because His thoughts are higher than my thoughts.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8 (ESV)
As I was working on this blog post, I experienced another major disappointment. Just one day after my birthday. As tears started to welt up in my eyes, all I could do is repeat Romans 8:28 (refer above). Through all the pain, confusion, and frustration God is still working it out for our good. So, this is what we have to remind ourselves when we go through disappointments. WE have to continue to have the faith in the wait.
Oh wait, two days, after Christmas, I received some life changing news---yes, yet another—MAJOR disappointment. Now this disappointment was the biggest of the three. This has caused some major shifting in my life, in just a few weeks. Wow. It is funny how we make plans for our life, but when God gets in the mix...............
Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs 19:21 (ESV)
All of this happened since the middle of November. You see I have been trying to get this blog post out to you since the first event occurred in November. But, I was overcome with the disappointment, bitterness, anger, and the circumstances. Through it all I had to finally realize that no matter what comes my way I cannot allow my disappointment to overshadow God’s blessings and glory.
So, my dear sisters, no matter what is going on in your life today. No matter what disappointment, or change you are facing today, know that God has got your back. He is working everything out for our good. He has a plan for our life. Let us march through 2018 boldly knowing that we are going to be victorious no matter what disappointments we faced in 2017 or so far this year!! I am cheering you on!! I am right beside you!! WE GOT THIS!!
HIS LOVE and MINE,
