Breaking Chains...Building Faith

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” – John 8:36 (NIV)

Whewww chillleee.. right now life is lifing .  I know it is lifing for you just as much as it is lifing for me.  I feel those weight of those chains that attempt to hold me back from walking in the fullness of who God has called me to be. These chains may look different for each of us. Some of us are tangled in financial struggles, barely getting by. Others of us are trapped in depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem. And for many, the chains have been passed down through generations, cycles of pain, trauma, and exhaustion that seem impossible to break.

But I came to remind you today: God is still in the business of breaking chains.

1. The Chain of Financial Struggle

Money has a way of keeping people bound mentally \and spiritually. Worrying about bills, debt, or lack can make you feel like you’ll never get ahead. But remember, Jehovah Jireh is still our provider.

When Elijah needed food during the famine, God sent ravens to feed him (1 Kings 17). When the widow’s oil was running out, God multiplied what she had (2 Kings 4). God can still provide in ways that make no earthly sense.

Breaking free starts with trusting that your source is not your paycheck, but GOD is your Provider. When you put God first, even in your finances, He promises to open the windows of Heaven and pour out blessings you won’t have room to contain (Malachi 3:10).

2. The Chain of Depression

Depression is a real battle. You can love God and still struggle to feel joy. You can serve others and still feel empty. But even in the darkest places, God’s light can reach you.

When Elijah sat under the tree, ready to give up, God didn’t scold him, instead he sent an angel to feed him and let him rest (1 Kings 19:5–8). Sometimes, God’s healing begins with rest, nourishment, and gentleness to ourselves.

If you’re weary, remember Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” You don’t have to carry the weight alone. The same God who calmed storms with His word can calm the storms within you.

3. The Chain of Low Self-Esteem

Low self-esteem whispers lie that you are not enough, not smart enough, not pretty enough, not worthy enough. But those are not God’s words over your life.

Psalm 139 reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. God took His time creating you. He placed gifts, talents, and purpose within you that no one else can fulfill.

When you start to see yourself through God’s eyes, you begin to walk differently. You speak differently. You no longer seek validation from people because you know who you are and whose you are. You are His masterpiece.

4. The Chain of Generational Trauma

Some chains didn’t start with you, but God wants them to end with you.

Generational trauma can look like cycles of broken relationships, addiction, poverty, or emotional pain. But when you belong to Jesus, your bloodline changes. You are no longer bound by what your family went through, you are covered by the blood of Christ.

Ezekiel 18:20 reminds us that each soul is accountable for itself. You can break free through prayer, forgiveness, and intentional healing. You are not cursed, you are chosen. God can use your story to bring deliverance to generations after you.

5. The Chain of Exhaustion

Many of us, including myself, are running on empty, trying to do everything, help everyone, and keep it all together. But the truth is, even the strongest need rest.

Jesus often withdrew to quiet places to pray (Luke 5:16). If the Son of God needed time to rest and recharge, so do we. Breaking the chain of exhaustion means learning to rest in His presence. Let Him refill your spirit so you can pour from overflow, not emptiness.

God is Still Breaking Chains

Whatever your chain looks like today, financial, emotional, or spiritual, remember that Jesus already broke it on the cross. What you feel bound by is no match for the power of God.

He is not intimidated by your struggle. He is ready to restore your joy, renew your strength, and remind you of your worth. You are free, not because of who you are, but because of who He is.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”  2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being a chain-breaking God. I give You every burden, every fear, and every struggle that has kept me bound. Break every chain of lack, depression, low self-esteem, and generational pain in my life. Fill me with Your peace, joy, and strength. I declare that I am free, I am loved, and I am enough, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

HIS LOVE and MINE,

SHEMECA
