It's Okay to NOT be okay

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!

You have relieved me in my distress;

Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

Psalm 4:1 NKJV

Life has a way of bringing us down. Unexpected and traumatic events can cause setbacks and disappointments. At the beginning of summer, I broke three bones in my ankle while walking. Yes, I was simply walking and my foot got caught in a space on the sidewalk. I had surgery the following morning and spent the first six weeks of summer in my bedroom. It was such a struggle having to depend on others for meals and assistance with a shower, as I could not bear any weight on my foot. Working from home was a struggle most days because my body was in pain, and I needed rest often. With this broken ankle came other setbacks and disappointments. I was starting to feel like I could not win. As I continued to ask God why, I was reminded that this is how this little funny thing “called life “works. It is a roller coaster.

Most times we feel like we should have it all together or keep it all together to have a good life. Hardships and trials will come. This is something that we cannot avoid as we go through life. But is recognizing how to deal with the hardships and trials that matter. I realized that it is ok to not be okay. God loves us just as we are. God will meet us where we are. It is okay to feel overwhelmed and brokenhearted.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18 NIV

God will always be close to us. Life is both challenging and amazing. It is in the challenging times that we push forward to get to those amazing times. It is okay to not be okay. It is okay to cry out to God when feeling distressed, overwhelmed, and heartbroken. God will hear your prayer. God will rescue you of your distress. No matter what the circumstances, situations, hardships, or trials, God is there. God brought you through hardships before and He will do it again and again and again. It is okay to not be okay. Call out to God, He has your back, always.

Heavenly Father,

Sometimes life gets very tough to bear.

I often feel overwhelmed and brokenhearted.

Help me to remember that when I call out to You,

you are always there and will always answer.

Thank You for Your mercy and grace.

Please always keep me close to you

In Jesus' Name, Amen

HIS LOVE and MINE,

Shemeca
